NORPAC Foods, Inc., a farmer-owned cooperative founded in 1924, processes frozen vegetables and fruit, along with canning vegetables. Headquartered in Salem, Oregon, NORPAC is Oregon’s largest fruit and vegetable processor and has 3 processing facilities in the Willamette Valley, along with a subsidiary Hermiston Foods, LLC in Hermiston, Oregon and a subsidiary Quincy Foods, LLC in Quincy, Washington. Maintenance Manager - Quincy, WA

 

NATURE AND SCOPE: Direct and manage all phases of production maintenance, including: budgeting, equipment maintenance, fabrication & machine work, installation of new equipment, inventory control, employee scheduling, job assignments, building maintenance, employee training, and plant safety training.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Make certain that preventative maintenance is performed on all plant equipment appropriately and in a timely fashion, and that all maintenance is performed in a manner that is safe and complies with food safety guidelines. Train employees in this area.
  • Develop long-range goals to meet plant and corporate objectives.
  • Make certain that all fabrication, construction, installation, and machine work is done properly and in a manner that is safe and meets budget.
  • Assist the plant manager in developing an annual operating budget and manage departmental activities to meet the approved budget.
  • Diagnose equipment problems and recommend and/or undertake corrective action.
  • Requisition parts, materials, and supplies as required.
  • Maintain accurate records as required and manage all permit applications and regulatory reporting in a timely manner.
  • Maintain safe and sanitary work area.
  • Train all employees under your supervision in all phases of Quincy Foods’ safety program and company policies.
  • Assign and direct work; appraise performance; discipline employees; address complaints and resolve problems.
  • Interview and make recommendations for new employees.
  • Manage capital projects working closely with contractors and oversee installation and completion of projects as per project approvals.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

  • College degree preferred (or equivalent experience).
  • Prefer 3+ years of increasing experience in maintenance.
  •    Must be able to handle all aspects of the job in a confidential manner.
  •    Good mechanical aptitude.
  •    Ability to lead and supervise maintenance workers and crews.
  •    Ability to read and interpret drawings, sketches, and blue prints.
  •    Thorough knowledge of complex maintenance equipment.
  •    Ability to operate, maintain, and repair food processing equipment.
  • High level of clear and effective communication skills, both verbal and written.

Inventory Administrator - Salem, OR

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Frequent analysis of product levels at assigned warehouses for replenishment purposes.
  • Determine order quantities and enter orders into SDMS.
  • Frequently review slow moving or discontinued products with follow-up to resolution.
  • Review shipping of orders from assigned warehouses.
  • Monitor and establish product minimums at assigned warehouses.
  • Frequent communication with Sales, outside packers’ inventory and warehouse personnel.
  • Perform warehouse-balancing procedures; authorize storage and handling invoices for payment.
  • Daily review and distribution of multiple incoming warehouse documents.
  • Data entry and maintenance of SDMS Master Files.

JOB TITLE:                          Quality Assurance Technician (15 positions)

LOCATION:                         Salem, Oregon

FULL-TIME, YEAR-ROUND POSITION

SALARY: $11.46 /hour (plus 10¢ per hour swing shift differential)

UNION MEMBERSHIP REQUIRED

JOB DUTIES

  • Read, complete, and interpret quality reports and take instruction.
  • Ensure product and packaging meets company and buyer specifications.
  • Observe, test, evaluate, and grade product being processed in compliance with Quality Assurance procedures.
  • Inform supervisor and line operator of any deficiencies.
  • Inspect product case and package to ensure accuracy of code, weight, and seam.
  • Obtain and display produce samples for management review, and dispose of upon completion.
  • Maintain detailed accurate records in accordance with Quality Assurance procedures.
  • Maintain a safe and sanitary work area.
  • Other comparable duties may be assigned.
  • REQUIREMENTS:
  • No experience necessary, employer willing to train qualified candidate.
  • Prefer knowledge of quality assurance inspection.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Achieve and maintain an optimum flow of production through the facility while minimizing downtime.
  • Achieve and maintain production quality standards.
