NORPAC Foods, Inc., a farmer-owned cooperative founded in 1924, processes frozen vegetables and fruit, along with canning vegetables. Headquartered in Salem, Oregon, NORPAC is Oregon’s largest fruit and vegetable processor and has 3 processing facilities in the Willamette Valley, along with a subsidiary Hermiston Foods, LLC in Hermiston, Oregon and a subsidiary Quincy Foods, LLC in Quincy, Washington. Shift Supervisor - Quincy, WA

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Achieve and maintain an optimum flow of production through the facility while minimizing downtime.
  • Achieve and maintain production quality standards.
  • Coordinate facility objectives and activities with other department supervisors to ensure overall an orderly and efficient operation.
  • Assign responsibilities to department and line supervisors.
  • Assign and supervise adjustments and repairs to the equipment.
  • Instruct subordinates about safe and efficient work habits, monitor their performance to ensure that safety and other Company policies have been communicated to the personnel of the department and are being practiced.
  • Maintain complete and accurate records and reports.
  • Perform other tasks that are necessary to accomplish department objectives.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • College degree preferred, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with food processing equipment helpful.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude.
  • Thorough knowledge of all food processing equipment used in the facility helpful.
  • Ability to operate, maintain and repair food processing equipment.
  • High level of communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Must be able to supervise and direct multiple employees in a fast-paced processing environment.
  • All new employee hiring is contingent upon passing a drug screen.

HOURS:   Full-time. Overtime as required, including weekends.  Rotating shifts.

Payroll Specialist - Salem, OR

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Process multi-employer and multi-state payroll using Kronos Workforce Ready, both salaried and hourly (union and non-union), on a weekly and bi-weekly basis, including garnishments, benefits and taxes according to federal and state wage and hour regulations.
  • Proof and process salaried, non-exempt time-sheets.
  • Serve as back-up to Corporate Payroll Manager on bi-weekly payroll.
  • Assist with implementation of Kronos Workforce Ready for hourly employees.
  • Assist with new employee set-up as well as changes to existing employees’ positions, pay, etc.
  • Help answer general payroll inquiries from employees.
  • Audit a mixture of pay codes with corresponding workers’ compensation codes.
  • Audit vacation and sick time accruals.
  • Prepare and/or create payroll-related reports as needed.
  • Support daily operations of the payroll department.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

  • Associates’ degree preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 2+ years’ experience processing payroll in a medium to large company. Note – this is not an entry-level payroll trainee position.
  • Familiarity with multi-state payroll.
  • Prefer experience with mainstream payroll software (ideally Kronos).
  • CPP certification preferred.
  • Very good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines while maintaining composure.
  • Solid skills in Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Wage & Hour law knowledge helpful.
  • Experience with union labor agreements helpful.
  • Experience processing garnishments, preferably in Oregon and Washington.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team; very organized; high attention to detail.
  • Willingness to embrace change and learn new skills, tools and technology.
  • Flexible and adaptable.

HOURS: Full-time, Monday thru Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Some daily and weekend overtime may occasionally occur.
